Become a member

 

Action for ASD is a parent led support group founded in 1996. From humble beginnings it has grown rapidly and today provides support and advice to people living and working with Autism in the Lancashire area.

Action for ASD provides:

  • Emotional support by listening and sharing experiences through a telephone helpline.
  • Practical help by exchanging ideas on the problems we have faced and how we have dealt with them.
  • Guidance and Advocacy on Educational issues and social services/benefits.
  • A programme of conferences offering parents and professionals the opportunity to hear the country's leading experts in the field of Autism.
  • Regular newsletters.
  • Comprehensive Resource Library.
  • Regular Family Social events.
  • Access to Counselling.
  • Advocacy support for parents
  • Saturday clubs for children aged 8 - 12 and 13 - 19 years.
  • Summer Programme of Activities for children
  • Social Skills Programme (TBA)
  • Research into post 16 provision

Action for ASD is committed to:

  • Raising the profile and understanding of Autistic Spectrum Disorders in Lancashire
  • Increasing the availability of support through various means
  • Increasing the numbers of service users
  • Offering improved services
  • Running regular conferences
  • Increasing networking links
  • Empowering service users 
  • Identifying difficulties for 16+ age group
  • Sourcing future funding

Social Events

We aim to offer a wide range of social events to appeal to parents, carers and families. Bowling, Halloween Party, Xmas Party, Theatre/concerts, Space Centre are just a few of the outings held. If you would like to join us and make new friends, look out for forthcoming events advertised in Aspect (our regular newsletter).

Saturday Club

Provides social and leisure activities for youngsters, aged 8-12 years and 13-19 years. Bowling, visits to the cinema, swimming, horse riding, arts and crafts, I.T. are just a few of the activities we offer.

Annual Subscriptions:

Individual / Family £12.00

Corporate Rate £22.00

Unwaged / Student / Individual with ASD £7.50

Newsletter Only (no membership) £7.50
